Heather Cox and Co-Founder, Julie Auslander were inspired to create Certify My Company, a diversity consultancy to provide the tools needed for qualified diverse suppliers to become nationally certified, and link to each other and large corporations to increase revenue, connect to events, share knowledge and motivation. A differentiated marketing strategy is key. Consumers have a plethora of choices. What makes one florist different from another, one printer, one painter, one IT company? Service, cost? It all sounds the same.

If you are a women owned business, minority owned business, LGTB owned business; differentiating yourself by certifying your company as such will separate you from the pack.

Minority Businesses are looking for additional opportunities to do business with Fortune 500 companies and Federal Government agencies. That is terrific, because many of the Fortune 500 companies through their supplier diversity initiatives have annual diversity spend goals. These goals serve to promote the inclusion of diverse suppliers into their supply chain. Certification is key to winning those contracts!! These large organizations can ONLY count spend with CERTIFIED suppliers. Therefore, being a certified diverse supplier is a competitive advantage. By actively seeking out Certification is key to winning these contracts!!

I have reaped the benefits of being certified for the last 13 years.

Did you know that the majority of female business owners in the U.S are generating under $100,000, and 80% of them under $40,000 a year? It is hard to run a business day in and day out, to worry about every customer, supplier and pay for health insurance while also having families. But if you aren't making enough money to compensate for your hard work, then life can be really hard.

Certification enables Minority owned company's to be nationally recognized by hundreds of major U.S. corporations and several public agencies as a certified. Certification gets a business access to a current list of thousands of supplier diversity and procurement executives at major U.S. corporations and other entities that recognize the importance of certification. Having the Certification member seal displaying a minority owned business can actively help the business stand to out from the competition. Once certified, you have joined the businesses that are seriously dedicated to advancing the success of minority owned businesses. Minority owned businesses promotes diversity, best practices and research to elevate that status of its members. As a certified business, you are invited to participate in many networking events and special programs which increase your visability and are designed with the sole purpose of bringing your business to the next level.

Julie Auslander is a successful 7x serial entrepreneur. Having reaped the benefits as one of the originally certified WBENC companies back in 1997, Julie realizes the importance of being certified and the challenges of doing so. When sitting on the New York WPEO Certification Committee, she saw the number of rejected or tabled applications and the time wasted by the committee in dealing with them. As well, many applicants never submit or resubmit their requests.

Julie wanted to be able to have as many other minority owned businesses that qualify, seek and certify their businesses and become part of the ranks and privileges that certification brings. To those ends, CMC was born. Our mission is to simplify the arduous certifying process which is what makes it worth its weight in gold. Certify MY Company is here to personally coach applicants through the mountain of paperwork that is required. More than 60% of applications submitted get rejected for certification due to poorly filled out, incomplete or misunderstood paperwork causing unnecessary delays or abandon opportunities. Like everything else in life, you get out of your certification what you put in. With the goal of inspiring and helping minority owned businesses grow their businesses and have more fun and time doing it, CMC provides the inspiration needed by helping get their qualified businesses nationally certified, helping link them with large corporations and each other to increase revenue, connecting them to events and sharing expert knowledge and inspiration. In an effort to further strengthen minority owned businesses so they can strengthen their communities, Certify My Company donates time, money and resources to organizations benefiting minority businesses. We are here to help.

Julie continue to make a difference in the lives of minority owned businesses through her businesses and her volunteer community activities. To address the needs of women going through the growing pains of their business process, CMC was born and is a place where support, shared resources, and inspiration is offered to connect minority owned businesses with each other and corporations to meet their goals.

Everywhere she goes, Julie is a constant advocate for women's personal and professional success. CMC speaks on various topics relating to minority owned businesses and the growth of their businesses.
